Gift of Design to the Visual, Sight to the Blind

MIT's Electric Eye

MIT's Electric Eye

Sight – taken for granted, and yet many couldn’t imaging life without it.

Although sight isn’t the only human necessity for design (as explained in my article “Design in Life“), without it, you would be missing one of the greatest gifts to mankind. As visual beauty is a gift to those of us that have sight, M.I.T wants to give an even greater gift to those who lost the sense – a re-introduction to the world.
Developed by a team of researchers, the electric eye will partially restore eyesight. The chip mounts onto the eyeball, and is powered by a special pair of glasses in front of it.
